Review : Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

SHADOW AND BONE (The Grisha #1)

Author : Leigh Bardugo
Publisher : Henry Colt & Co.
Pages : Hardcover, 358 pgs
Release Date : June 5, 2012

Shadow and Bone was a breeze - you started with page one and time flew through the gap in your fingers. Before you knew it, you were laughing and then smiling and then taking in a quick surprise breath. Before you knew it, you were at the end of the novel. Satisfied. Happy. Thoroughly entertained.

The Russian setting works. The characters work. The romance between two childhood friends works.

Graphic Goodness by Amelia @ The Authoress

Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's reviews is all about adding books to your towering TBR pile - review books sent to you, books you borrow from the library, books you break your piggy bank over, books you steal and kill for with no remorse.
Then you go around the blogosphere salivating over the many books on the many virtual shelves.
It is quite fun.

My haul this week encompasses the last few weeks when I was absent from the blogging world (and missing it to bits) :

Review : Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

UNDER THE NEVER SKY (#1)

Author : Veronica Rossi
Publisher : HarperCollins
Pages : Hardcover, 374 pgs
Release Date : January 3, 2012

READioactivity on a scale of 5 : FOUR

They called the world beyond the walls of the Pod "the Death Shop." A million ways to die out there. Aria never thought she'd get so close.
Under the Never Sky is a tale more about the million ways to live when the going gets tough. And I never thought my heart would be hijacked by this debut of 2012.

It was. And how.

Waiting on Wednesday : Taken by Erin Bowman

WoW is a meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. It showcases a particular species of books that have yet to come out - the kind over whose release you tie yourself into knots! ;)

My pick of the week is another YA debut!

TAKEN
Erin Bowman

There are no men in Claysoot. There are boys—but every one of them vanishes at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. The ground shakes, the wind howls, a blinding light descends…and he’s gone.

They call it the Heist.

Gray Weathersby’s eighteenth birthday is mere months away, and he’s prepared to meet his fate–until he finds a strange note from his mother and starts to question everything he’s been raised to accept: the Council leaders and their obvious secrets. The Heist itself. And what lies beyond the Wall that surrounds Claysoot–a structure that no one can cross and survive.

Climbing the Wall is suicide, but what comes after the Heist could be worse. Should he sit back and wait to be taken–or risk everything on the hope of the other side?

With a blurb like that, this one book that I am peeling my eyes open for! The book comes out April 16th and the wait is excruciating!!
Which book are YOU waiting for??

Feature & Follow : Tear-jerker of a Book

The skinny on Feature & Follow :

1. It is a meme
2. To make friends
3. And answer fun questions while you're at it

It's hosted by two fabulous bloggers Alison @ Alison Can Read and Rachel @ Parajunkee
You need to head over there and check them out!!

This week's question is :

What is the last book that made you cry? Tell us about that scene.

Wow. Okay. A LOT of books made me cry this year. This is not to say that I cry a lot while reading. I rarely do (while reading heh) This year I've read books that make you hurt in the heart, last one being The Scorpio Races

The part that really made me bawl was the last line of the book. BEST LAST LINE EVER.
But it would be a massive spoiler if I gave it away.
Mostly all the interactions between Sean Kendrick and Corr made me smile and weep and hug myself. This was an EPIC book.
